I love summer. Green leaves on trees, sunshine, long days… sigh. When the days get shorter and the weather starts to turn, my skin usually turns with it. I have mostly dry skin year round anyway, but during the colder months I get tight and itchy (sometimes even flaky) skin. My favorite products often rotate – if I didn’t switch things up now and then I’d get bored – but there are a few staple products (or staple categories) that I go back to time and time again when the days get chilly. Lets start with a bang and talk about the one couldn’t bear to be without:
Last week on Instagram I posted the promo photo for Dolce & Gabbana’s Collector’s Edition Bronze and Highlight Powders (at the time a Harrod’s exclusive). Probably the most beautiful powders I’ve ever seen and at the time I wanted them more than air… or world peace.
Since these are now available in the US at Saks Fifth Avenue (and word is they’ll soon be showing up at Nordstrom), I thought this would be a good time to introduce you to the two shades that are available. Just in case you’ve temporarily lost your mind and are thinking of taking a brush to one of those beauties, the colors aren’t new (Desert and Eva are both part of their permanent line), just the stunning embossed design is.

This summer Estée Lauder launched their new line of Pure Color Envy EyeShadows with ten 5-color palettes. Now that I have my hands on all of these bad boys it’s time for some photos and review talk! NOTE: If you follow me on Instagram you’ve already seen many of the photos shown here and if you don’t follow me on Instagram… well I guess you haven’t ;)
I’m officially at the mid-way point of my Social (Media) Experiment and I think it’s time for a progress report. Here are four things I’ve learned thus far:
There are plenty of things in life that confuse me. Several times each day you might find me scratching my head saying, “What in the actual hell?” I’m also the first person to tell you that there’s a lot I don’t know; some are things I haven’t learned YET (how to control birds with the power of my mind) but others are things that confound me time and time again (tying a necktie on someone else). Other things are more clear, they resonate loudly and vibrate the air around me begging for attention.
There are some people who believe in the authority of yes or no, right or wrong, black or white, this or that. I’ve never really been one of those people, especially when it comes to what I call the “bigger things in life.” Relationships for example; there’s too much room for exception and consideration, for “almost but not quite” and other points of view. There are more that only two paths.
